Rhine River

As with many Europe river cruises, a Rhine River cruise
is a voyage through time. The Rhine River has played an
important role in the culture and history of Europe for
over 2,000 years. A Rhine River cruise takes you to four
different countries: Netherlands, Germany, France and
  Switzerland.

Your Rhine River cruise usually sails between the cities of
Antwerp and Basel (or Zurich) or Amsterdam and Basel
(or Zurich). Your Rhine River cruise takes you past numerous,
fairy-tale castles, hillsides terraced with vineyards, and old-
world towns that are utterly charming.

Your Rhine River cruise takes you past the famous Lorelei
Rock where you can listen for the voices of the Sirens.
Other highlights of a Rhine River cruise, include:

  • Cologne - founded by the Romans it is one of Germany's
oldest cities. Don't miss the Gothic Cologne Cathedral
one of the few buildings in the city not destroyed in
    World War 2.

  • Koblenz - the name stems from the old Latin word which
referred to the merging of two rivers: the Rhine and Moselle.
Here you will find the bronze statute of Kaiser Wilhelm I on
his horse located at the end of the Rhine Promenade, the
walkway to the exact point where the two rivers meet.

  • Strasbourg - located in the heart of the Alsace region,
this city as been referred to as the 'crossroads of Europe'.
Be sure to visit the Place d'Austerlitz and visit the old
    section of town.

Your Rhine River cruise gives you the opportunity to cruise in
what can only be described as a picture postcard. If you've
seen pictures of castles perched on a hill above a river and
wondered where it was; it was the Rhine.

Rhine River cruises can include the opportunity to continue
your exploration of this lovely region with either a pre-cruise
or post-cruise package. (or both!)

Either before or after your Rhine River cruise, continue on to
the picturesque city of Lucerne, Switzerland. Located on the
shores of Lake Lucerne and framed by the magnificent snow-
capped Swiss Alps.

Since most Rhine River cruises cruise in between Amsterdam
and Basel you can extend your cruise-vacation with a stay
in either of these cities as well.  Or, spend a few days in the
splendidly preserved Medieval city of Brugge or in the very
cosmopolitan city of Amsterdam.

Because these are packages that include meals and
sightseeing, you will save money and time over making
these arrangements independently.

Added to the stress-free nature of Rhine River cruising and
you have a great cruise vacation with all the details handled.
Plus, since everything is pre-paid before you leave on your
trip, there is no need to worry about exchange rates and the
rising costs of hotels and meals.
